"Moonswept is as good or better than the pictures show. Very clean property. Well maintained. High end appliances in the kitchen. Excellent electronics (TV, DVD, I-pod docks) Beach chairs and coolers for you to use. This property is on the quiet east end of St John, which is what we like. Very private. The pool and sun area to the side is great. Did I mention it was private! Great little restaurants that are very close. The north shore beaches are a pleasant short drive in the mornings. Since the property backs up to the National Park, it feels very isolated. Dave, the on-site manager, was a real benefit. He gave a great orientation to the villa, then we rarely saw him again. It was nice to know that he was only a phone call away if we needed something, instead of trying to call a rental agency. The road up to the villa is a little rough, but, its an island. We've encountered much worse on other islands. Just get a Jeep and enjoy. Can't say enough about how much we enjoyed our visit to Moonswept."

“Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful home with us!  We have enjoyed the wonderful view, the pool and the perfect island hospitality!  Dave was such a huge help with getting us acclimated to the island and giving us all the knowledge we needed to feel like locals.  We hate to leave St. John, but have already planned to come back sometime soon because we had such an amazing time!

Thanks again,”

“As I sit here at the end of our honeymoon,  I find it hard to come up with words to express the beauty and wonder of this place.  We absolutely LOVED Moonswept – can’t beat the view and peace and quiet.”

“Absolutely delightful.  The view is breathtaking day and night.  Well worth the climb.”

“Your house really captures the true beauty of St. John.  This is a hidden jewel on the Island.”

The Battite’s,  Boston, Ma.

“It’s the first time ever in all our visits to varied Caribbean islands that we felt like staying at the house and relaxing was as valuable as exploring.  Except for a great hike/kayak/snorkel with Dave in Cruz Bay,  we stayed pretty much put.  Scrabble, cards, movies and meals, not to mention naps, reading and poolside lounging as well – ah the busy life of relaxing on vacation!”

The Henries – Lexington, Mass.

“As we are waiting (sadly) for the ferry, we wanted to tell you what a truly wonderful piece of paradise that you have created! We could barely catch our breaths upon arrival and walking into “home”.  We thank you for an awesome week,  a kind and loving caretaker and a view never to be forgotten.”

The Busnacks and The Howells – Tewksbury, NJ

“Thanks so much for our wonderful week at Moonswept.  As I write, I am looking at the light of the full moon sweeping across the water in Coral Bay – what a sight!  The view here is spectacular.  The rooms are comfortable and the kitchen equipped with all that we needed.  We explored beaches all over the island. We’ve had a great vacation and found that for two couples, staying in a villa really added to the experience.”

The Cohens – Newton, Ma.

“The four of us arrived a week ago Saturday feeling utterly exhausted, looking like we could all use an I.V. drip.  It had been one of those years that occur in life when crisis, snafus and junk get in the way.  Moonswept has worked it’s magic and we are tanned, rested and I don’t want to leave!

Donkeys and goats on the roads.  Guidebooks left in the house: fish, trees & plants, St. John History.  The burgers and cast of characters at Skinny Legs.  Tropical drinks at Shipwreck Landing,  talking to Jacob @ Lilly’s Gourmet.  The view of the sunrise and sunset over the bay every day.  Knowing Dave was nearby and within cellphone reach.  Yellow walls,  photo of Central Park “Gates”,  paintings of the South of France all make me feel on familiar, kindred space.”

The Fayyaz’s  - Stanford, Ct.

“Reluctantly packing up after a memorable week here…sweeping view, a treat to return to after each day’s expeditions.  After earlier trips to Virgin Gorda, St. Thomas and Tortola, got to say that St. John clearly has the best beaches!  We loved Trunk Bay.  Francis Bay and Salt Pond were hidden treasures.  Our second home for lunch was Miss Lucy’s, with Island Blues a close second.  Both are right on the water and have great burgers and rum drinks. The Roche’s cd was the soundtrack for our afternoons by the pool – can’t beat that!  Thanks for sharing your villa.”

The Stiles,  Barrington, R.I.

“What a place to spend our honeymoon!!  The memories we made here will certainly make it a little easier to leave…but not that easy. J  We enjoyed exploring this magical place.  It was truly a relief from the pace of Washington, D.C. Many thanks to Dave for his insight and suggestions.  We will never forget our time here!  Lastly,  thank you for having cable!!  We didn’t want to miss American Idol!”

"From the moment I opened the front door of this new (completed in late 2007), villa at the top of Calabash Boom Road, I was (Moon) swept away. Saying the view is spectacular is an understatement. And then looking around and seeing all the thoughtful and luxurious amenities, I realized this was going to be no ordinary vacation. The private pool and deck area share the awe-inspiring view, making Moonswept the perfect and perfectly romantic island villa -- privacy and luxury at the top of the world."

“When I walked in the door of The Moonswept Villa, I was indeed swept away.  The view is HUGE!  I had arrived on top of the world.  The sun was setting and the clouds were dancing in light across the vast expanse of the Caribbean Sea. This is the kind of view I'd always dreamed of.  It took me a while to catch my breath and realize what a cozy, but spacious home I was in.  Everything about Moonswept is soothing, yet invigorating.  The owners are artists, and you can tell, because wherever you look you will see evidence of an artist's eye, with every attention given to enhancing the beauty of the environment.
The house opens into a large loft-like room with a high angled ceiling, brightly painted with crisp white beams.  In the center of the room is a lovely and inviting family style table, which quickly became my favorite spot to watch the sunrise in the morning.  It was tough choice between that and lounging by the pool, with a cool breeze in the quiet Calabash Boom morning, or curling up in one of the bright blue, overstuffed couches with a favorite book.
During the day, we snorkeled, swam and saw the sights (don't forget to visit the east end, which you can see from the house, visit Sloop Jone's clothing store, it's worth the trek.) The beaches are the most exquisite I've ever seen.  But at night we couldn't wait to get back to the house and shower in the open, spotlessly clean bathroom, (washer and dryer, too!) and settle down for a luxurious, romantic evening.  The kitchen has everything a chef could want and dinnertime was a relaxing, cozy event that spread late into the evening, where the house took on a magical glow and was the peaceful paradise we had been craving.

Next time, I think we might bring friends.  There are two big, identical bedrooms, each with their own flat screen TV and plenty of privacy.  I think it would be fun to come with another couple or even a bunch of girlfriends!  This is a dream vacation spot for people
who want to be drenched in serenity and beauty, a great escape from the noisy party scene of many resort vacations.  (By the way, we were there in the summer and it was perfect weather.)  Moonswept has definitely been blessed, nestled into the natural beauty of St. John -laidback, soothing and tons of fun!”
